Does Allah accept the repentance of one who repents to Him for a calamity that befell him five months ago, but who does not feel remorse, even though he knows that Allah knows his repentance in his heart? And what is the way to firmly establish certainty and faith in the heart and to cure its hardness, in light of the lack of firmly established certainty in Allah and faith in Him and in the Quran within the heart?

Trust in the acceptance of repentance if you are sincere with Allah, for Allah has promised to accept the repentance of His sincere servants and to forgive their sins, as stated in His exalted words: "Do they not know that Allah is He who accepts repentance from His servants?" and His saying: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins.'" Sincere repentance (Tawbah (definition) Nasuh) is that which fulfills its conditions: abandoning the disobedience out of shame before Allah, regretting it, resolving not to return to it, and restoring rights to their owners if the disobedience involved a human right.
