Is it permissible to divorce a wife residing in Jordan, while the husband resides in Palestine and is able to visit her, but she is unable to come to him, due to family insistence?
The family is the foundation of society, and Allah Almighty has clarified the Sharia rulings to preserve it, prioritizing reconciliation over separation, as Allah Almighty says: "And reconciliation is best" and "And if you do good and guard against evil, then verily, Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." The rulings of divorce vary between obligation, recommendation, prohibition, detestability, and permissibility. In this case, there is no justification for divorce as long as the wife is content with her husband's absence, and he must care for her and meet her needs. It is not permissible for parents to force their son to divorce his wife, and the son is not obligated to obey them in this regard, as Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned.
