What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a married man, with two children, remaining bound to his ill wife, who cannot come to him in Europe, and he cannot return to his country, while her family and his father are demanding that he divorce her, but the wife refuses to be divorced?

A man is not obligated to obey his father's command to divorce his wife, because obedience is only incumbent in what is right and proper (ma'ruf). Divorcing a wife without a valid reason is not considered ma'ruf, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, obedience is only in what is right and proper." It is not permissible for him to divorce her due to the words of his mother, father, or brother. He should strive to find a way to keep his family with him and frequently supplicate to Allah Almighty for ease.
