How authentic is the narration which mentions that Ibn Abbas said, in interpreting the verse, "Until when terror is removed from their hearts," that the sound of the revelation was like the sound of iron on a rock, and that the angels fell prostrate upon hearing it?

Ibn Abbas's narration, "When our Lord spoke with revelation, His voice was like the sound of iron on a rock," was transmitted through two weak chains of narration. However, it was considered for supportive evidence due to the presence of corroborating texts, such as the agreed-upon Hadith of Abu Hurairah, "When Allah decrees a matter in heaven, the angels beat their wings in submission to His word, as if it were a chain on a rock," and the authentic narration of Ibn Mas'ud, "When Allah speaks with revelation, the inhabitants of the heavens hear a clanking sound from the heaven, like the dragging of a chain on a rock."

These authentic texts prove that Allah speaks with an audible voice. This is the view held by the imams of the Salaf, who affirm that establishing this attribute does not necessitate likening Allah to His creation. The similes mentioned in the Hadiths are intended to convey the immensity of the sound and the intense awe of the angels, not to liken an attribute of Allah Almighty to the attributes of created beings.
