The answer

If a man performs ruqyah (exorcism/healing) using the Quran and lawful supplications, there is no harm in seeking healing and ruqyah from him, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no harm in ruqyah as long as it does not involve shirk (polytheism)." It is a condition that one must not believe that the raqi (performer of ruqyah) can benefit or harm, but rather that Allah alone is the Benefiter and the Harmer. However, if the raqi uses unknown words or talismans, it is not permissible to seek ruqyah from him.
