Is it forbidden to build many mosques in a village?

The multiplicity of mosques in a single village is legislated if there is a need for it due to the large number of worshippers. However, if there is no such need, and the establishment of the mosque is not intended to cause harm, then this is a matter of dispute among scholars. But if it is intended to cause harm, then it is not permissible.
