Does a maternal half-brother inherit from his deceased brother, who also has a full brother?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If the deceased leaves behind only a full brother and a maternal brother, the maternal brother receives one-sixth, as Allah the Almighty says: "And if he has a brother or a sister, then for each one of them is the sixth." The remainder goes to the full brother, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them; then whatever remains is for the closest male." Inheritance matters should be referred to the Sharia courts to verify the existence of other heirs, wills, or debts.
