How is the inheritance divided between a paternal brother and a maternal sister of the deceased?

If the deceased leaves behind only a half-sister from the mother's side and a half-brother from the father's side, then the half-sister from the mother's side receives one-sixth, as stated in the verse: "And if a man or a woman leaves neither parent nor child but has a brother or a sister (from his mother’s side), then for each one of them is the sixth." The remainder goes to the half-brother from the father's side by way of ta'seeb (residual heirship), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them, and what remains is for the nearest male." Thus, the inheritance is divided into six shares: the half-sister from the mother's side receives her one-sixth (one share), and the remaining five shares go to the half-brother from the father's side. It is obligatory to refer inheritance matters to Sharia courts or to consult with scholars regarding them, as there might be wills, debts, or other rights that take precedence over the heirs' rights.
