What is the cure for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) regarding pronouncements of divorce? And what is the ruling on an unmarried man saying: "If I were to marry and my wife did such-and-such, I would not stay with her for a moment," knowing that this was said in a state of emotional agitation? And do these words prevent his future marriage?

Divorce is not valid before the marriage contract, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Divorce is for him who has taken the leg [i.e., consummated the marriage]," and "There is no divorce before marriage." Therefore, what a man says before the marriage contract with a woman is not considered a divorce. It is advised for those suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder to disregard these intrusive thoughts and consult a psychiatrist, while seeking Allah's help.
