The answer

If someone wishes to offer a sacrifice on behalf of his father, he should say at the time of slaughter: "In the name of Allah, Allah is the greatest. O Allah, this is on behalf of my father," and intend that in his heart. The evidence for this is the action of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when he sacrificed on his own behalf and on behalf of those among his Ummah who had not sacrificed. If the intention is that he sacrifices on his own behalf and dedicates the reward of this sacrifice to his father, then after the sacrifice he should say: "O Allah, if You have accepted this deed from me, then make its reward for my father," or something similar.
