Is the one who commits suicide considered a disbeliever or a Muslim, and should a condolence gathering be held for him and his family be consoled?

The suicide is threatened with severe punishment, and it is mentioned in the Hadith that the suicide will abide eternally in the fire of Hell. However, he does not become a disbeliever merely by committing suicide. It is recommended to offer condolences to his family due to the general command to offer condolences. As for what people do, such as gathering at the deceased's home to recite the Quran and prepare food, it is an innovation (bid'ah) that is not permissible, neither for the suicide nor for anyone else.
