Is the martyr of the mosque to be buried in the place where he was killed, by analogy with the burial of war dead where they fell?

The hadith: "Bury the slain in their battlefields" is authentic, and it indicates recommendation, not obligation. It is recommended to bury the martyr where he was killed, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Bury the slain in their battlefields." However, if he died in the mosque, he should not be buried there, because burial in the mosque is forbidden.
