Why do many Muslims prioritize songs and movies, which are human words, over the Holy Qur’an, which is the word of Allah Almighty, even though many non-Muslims abandon their immoral ways and return to Allah? And why are most Muslims not convinced that Paradise and its bliss are better and more lasting than the pleasures of disobedience? And how can a committed person control his desire to return to sins to preserve both his worldly life and his Hereafter?

The noble Hadith clarifies that Paradise has been veiled by hardships, and Hellfire has been veiled by desires, and that reaching either of them involves tearing through its specific veil. The soul inclines towards idleness and dislikes the truth, and it will not be saved except by Allah's grace. Therefore, one must strive against the self and compel it to obey Allah and love the truth until this becomes second nature, leading to the enjoyment of obedience. Striving against the self is the path to tasting the sweetness of faith. This is aided by contemplating the insignificance of this world and reflecting on the torment of Hellfire, while seeking assistance from Allah Almighty and supplicating Him for success.
