The answer

Books have been written on this subject, including "Adab Al-Baḥth wal-Munāẓarah" (Etiquettes of Research and Debate) by العلامة (Allamah) Muhammad Al-Amin Al-Shinqiti. A student of knowledge should strive to refine their scholarly abilities and study beneficial sciences. Once endowed with knowledge, they will be capable of debating opponents and establishing proof against them through argumentation in the best manner, and calling to Allah with wisdom. Extensive reading of scholars who focused on debating innovators, such as Ibn Taymiyyah, provides a significant advantage to the student of knowledge. A student of knowledge should not undertake a debate with anyone until their preparation is complete and they are certain of their suitability for it; otherwise, they risk exposing themselves and others to temptation and causing harm where they intended benefit.
