Is the "list" that includes gold and furnishings considered a dowry for the woman in Islam, or must liquid money be paid to her guardian or to her, and how much should this amount be, measured by the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?

There is no maximum limit for the dowry; it is determined by what the spouses agree upon. Allah Almighty says: "And if you have given one of them a qintar [a great amount of wealth], do not take anything back from it." It is not required to be in cash or to be handed over at the time of the contract. Allah Almighty says: "So for a enjoyment you have had from them, give them their prescribed compensation." All that the spouses agree upon at the time of the contract, including the prompt and deferred dowry, and the list of furnishings, is a dowry that the husband is obligated to pay. If custom dictates the presentation of some gifts and their mention at the time of the contract, then custom is considered, and the gift has its own rulings.
