As a student of knowledge, I want to ask: How much hadith should I memorize per day?

It is not possible to specify a number of hadiths to be memorized daily, due to the varying lengths of the texts, and differing circumstances and capabilities of individuals. We advise piety towards Allah and gradual memorization by preserving a small, well-mastered amount and gradually increasing it, for extensive memorization strengthens memory, as Ibn al-Qayyim said. It is also advised to accompany a shaykh and assist a diligent student. It is most fitting for a student of knowledge to focus on memorizing the Holy Quran first.
