What is the ruling regarding a husband's statement to his wife in a state of anger, "You are unlawful to me if you bring this device again," referring to a receiver that he threw on the ground, and what is the ruling if she brings a different device other than that one?

You must repent to Allah for two matters: introducing the receiver device that contains great evils, and your saying to your wife, "You are unlawful to me," because it is ẓihār (a form of divorce by injurious comparison) and a reprehensible and false statement. If you do not introduce the device again, then nothing is incumbent upon you. However, if you do introduce it, then ẓihār has occurred, and it becomes unlawful for you to have intercourse with your wife until you perform the expiation for ẓihār, which is in sequence: freeing a slave, and if you cannot find one, then fasting for two consecutive months, and if you are unable to do that, then feeding sixty needy persons.
