How can one die a martyr in the cause of Allah, what is the status of martyrs compared to others in Paradise, and what is the way to achieve that while living in a safe country?

The martyr in the way of Allah Almighty holds a great status because he offered the most precious thing he owned, seeking the reward of Allah, and chose the afterlife. Allah has prepared for those who strive in His way a hundred levels in Paradise, with the distance between any two levels being like that between the heaven and the earth. The souls of martyrs are in the bellies of green birds, frequenting the rivers of Paradise and eating from its fruits. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified that the martyr has six distinct merits with Allah, among them that he is forgiven with the first drop [of blood], sees his abode in Paradise, and is protected from the torment of the grave. However, the status of the Messenger and the Siddiq (the truthful one) is higher than that of the martyr.

For whoever desires martyrdom but does not achieve it, Allah grants him the status of martyrs due to the sincerity of his intention. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever sincerely asks Allah for martyrdom, Allah will make him reach the status of the martyrs, even if he dies on his bed."
