Is it permissible for a man to marry a woman whose religiosity and character he admires, despite his father's refusal?

The son did not err in choosing a wife of religion and good character, and this is the recommendation of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "A woman is married for four reasons: for her wealth, for her lineage, for her beauty, and for her religion. So, succeed with the one who has religion, may your hands be soiled." Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen offers two pieces of advice: The first is to the father, stating that it is not permissible for him to prevent his son from marrying a woman of religion and good character unless there is a clear, legitimate reason, and he should wish for his son what he wishes for himself. The second is to the son, stating that if he can change his mind to please his father, then he should do so. However, if his heart is attached to her and he cannot bear to be without her, then he may marry her even if his father dislikes it, and perhaps the father will be convinced after the marriage.
