What are the conditions that a film must meet for watching it to be permissible (halal), and what are the characteristics that make watching it impermissible (haram)?

For watching movies to be permissible, they must be free from what Allah has forbidden. It is not permissible to watch movies that contain mockery of religion or forbidden things such as naked or immodestly dressed images, forbidden touching, mixing of genders, singing accompanied by music, or those that promote falsehood. Any movie that includes a violation of Islamic law is not permissible to produce, assist in, sell, buy, or watch.
