What is the ruling on dealing with a stock of men's trousers that reveal the 'awrah, given that they were purchased before knowing the impermissibility of trading in them, and they cannot be returned to the manufacturer?

Selling short shorts is not forbidden unless it is known that the buyer will use them in a forbidden way. The basic rule for selling is permissibility, and their use is not always forbidden, as they may be worn at home or for permissible purposes. However, selling something when the seller is certain that the buyer will disobey Allah with it is forbidden, according to the verse: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression." If the seller is not certain of this, then the sale is valid. Therefore, it is permissible to sell short shorts to someone whose condition the seller does not know, or to a merchant who will resell them. Nevertheless, it is better to be scrupulous and sell them only to someone whom the seller knows will not disobey Allah with them.
