What is the ruling on renting a shop to sell men's clothing if some of the trousers displayed (representing a quarter or a third of the stock) describe the 'awrah? Is all the money earned from this shop unlawful? And if it is unlawful, does it remain so if it is given as a gift to someone who knows its source?

It is not forbidden to rent a shop for selling men's clothes—even if they are tight and reveal the 'awrah—because wearing such clothes is not forbidden. Rather, it is mildly disliked (makrooh tanzeehi) according to the majority of jurists, as long as they are thick and do not show what is beneath them. Furthermore, these clothes may be worn at home or with something that covers the grave 'awrah. Therefore, there is no harm in benefiting from the money earned from renting the shop.
