Is repentance considered valid in light of severe obsessive thoughts, especially when there are old photographs in which the questioner did not adhere to the legal hijab, and her refusal to ask the one who took them to delete them, claiming that she does not like her and fears family ridicule, and does that affect the validity of repentance? And does waiting for someone to talk to her to delete the photos make her repentance invalid? And is the obsessive thought of not succeeding in studies due to not fully adhering to the hijab considered correct thinking?

All praise is due to Allah, who has blessed you with steadfastness and repentance. The only cure for obsessive thoughts is to ignore them. Your repentance is valid and accepted, Allah willing, so have a good opinion of your Lord. There is no need to hate or abandon your studies, for there is nothing to prevent combining steadfastness with academic excellence. As for the photos, ask the girl to delete them to complete your repentance, and this is what you are capable of. There is no sin in your living in Europe if you are able to uphold your religion there. Disobeying Allah has an effect on being deprived of success, so adhere to obedience to Allah, safeguard the obligatory prayers, perform many supererogatory acts of worship, strive to repent from all sins, keep company with good people, and abandon obsessive thoughts.
