The expiation for an oath is to feed ten needy people with the average food you provide for your family, or to clothe them, or to free a slave. If one cannot find any of these, then it is to fast for three days. It is sufficient for feeding to provide lunch or dinner for ten needy people until they are full. It is stipulated that the needy people must own the food, and the food should be of the average kind that people eat, such as rice and wheat. It is not permissible to give vegetables and fruits as expiation, as they are not considered staple foods for people.
