Is Islam a religion of love and peace, and does the Noble Verse: (The recompense of an evil deed is an evil deed the like thereof) [Surat Ash-Shura, 40], align with the principle of returning good for evil in Christianity?

Islam is a religion of love, brotherhood, and justice. It permits a Muslim to retaliate in kind against harm, but forgiveness and pardoning are superior. Allah Almighty says: "The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof. But whoever pardons and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. Indeed, He does not like the wrongdoers" (Ash-Shura: 40). And He says: "Then whoever transgresses against you, you may transgress against him in the same measure as he transgressed against you" (Al-Baqarah: 194). Islam emphasized repelling evil with good: "And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] with that which is better" (Fussilat: 34). It is the religion that Allah has approved for humanity, as Allah Almighty says: "Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam" (Al 'Imran: 19).
