The answer

Kindness to parents is obligatory, especially to the mother in old age, for Allah Almighty says: ﴿And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor.﴾ [Al-Isra: 23]. And Allah Almighty says: ﴿And We have enjoined on man (to be good) to his parents. His mother carried him with weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Thank Me and your parents. To Me is the final destination.﴾ [Luqman: 14]. And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "May his nose be rubbed in the dust, then may his nose be rubbed in the dust, then may his nose be rubbed in the dust." It was said: "Whose, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "He who reaches old age with his parents, one or both of them, and does not enter Paradise." And he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Strive in their service." And he said: "Stay with her, for Paradise is under her feet." The mother has a great right due to what she has offered of pregnancy, childbirth, and upbringing, and her obedience is only in what is good, not in disobedience to the Creator.
