What is the wisdom behind a patient not recovering from schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder, despite praying continuously for six months?

The supplicant must repel the whispers of Satan, for a supplication that meets its conditions and is free from impediments will undoubtedly be answered for its owner, by God's promise: "Allah does not fail in His promise." And authentic hadiths have clarified that Allah answers a Muslim's supplication in one of three ways: He either grants it immediately, or reserves it for him in the Hereafter, or averts from him an equivalent amount of evil, as long as he does not supplicate for sin or cutting off kinship ties, or become impatient.

The Muslim is commanded to supplicate and is promised an answer, but Allah Almighty chooses the manner of the answer, and He knows best what is in the servant's interest. Often, good lies in prevention, and a person's ruin might be in receiving. Allah Almighty said: "And perhaps you dislike a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not." So, the believer gives thanks in prosperity and shows patience in adversity, for both are good for him.
