What is Salat al-Hajah (the Prayer of Need), and does it reach twelve rak'ahs?

The prayer mentioned in the noble Hadith is called Salatul Hajah (Prayer of Need). It is sunnah for a Muslim to perform wudu thoroughly, then pray two rak'ahs, praise Allah Almighty, send blessings upon the Prophet, peace be upon him, then recite the supplication mentioned in the Hadith, and ask Allah for whatever he wishes regarding matters of this world and the Hereafter.

Scholars have differed on the ruling of acting upon this Hadith. Some have permitted it because it pertains to virtuous deeds and has supporting narrations and evidence, while others have not permitted it due to the weakness of its narrator, Fa'id ibn Abd al-Rahman.

As for Salatul Hajah consisting of twelve rak'ahs, its Hadith is not authentic.
