Is the prohibition of alms to the Prophet's household (Ahl al-Bayt) restricted to obligatory alms (zakat) and not voluntary alms (sadaqa), given the ambiguities in understanding the Hadith of Barirah and the issue of the prohibition of alms to the Mothers of the Believers?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was prohibited from receiving both obligatory and voluntary charity. However, the family of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, are only prohibited from receiving obligatory charity, not voluntary charity. This is because charity is the impurities of people, and Allah has purified the Prophet and his family from it. The wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, are from his household, and the correct view is that charity is prohibited for them, as they are more deserving of being protected from it, like the rest of the household.
