Who is Ibrahim ibn Adham, when did he live, and what are his most prominent stances?

Ibrahim ibn Adham was one of the virtuous, ascetic scholars, from the followers of the Tabi'in. He was born around the year 100 AH. He was renowned for his asceticism and devotion. Sufyan al-Thawri praised him, saying, "Ibrahim ibn Adham resembled Ibrahim al-Khalil (Abraham, the intimate friend of Allah). If he had been among the Companions, he would have been a virtuous man."
