Is the gift that a traveler presents to his family and friends upon his return considered a bid‘ah or haram?

There is no harm in the gift that a traveler presents upon his return; rather, it is a good deed, falling under the Prophet's saying, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "Exchange gifts, and you will love one another." Bringing gifts brings joy to hearts, strengthens bonds of love and brotherhood, and increases social cohesion. This is especially true for family and relatives, as it involves maintaining kinship ties.
