Is it possible for a woman to be a Mufti?

There is no objection to a woman issuing fatwas if she possesses the necessary qualifications, for she is like a man in this regard. Jurists have explicitly stated this, such as Al-Nawawi, who stipulated that a Mufti must be a responsible adult, a Muslim, trustworthy, reliable, free from wickedness, jurisprudentially learned, sound of mind, profound in thought, and vigilant, whether free, enslaved, or a woman. There have been examples of women who did so, such as Fatimah, daughter of Al-Samarqandi, who became learned in jurisprudence from her father and issued fatwas in her own handwriting, as well as in the handwriting of her father and her husband.
