Is the fear of hypocrisy, the unanswered prayers despite adherence to acts of obedience, the feeling of inner discontent during calamities, the incompletion of matters, and the strong intrusive thoughts – are these signs of Allah's displeasure, or a trial, or magic that causes stagnation? And how can one ascertain this and remedy it?

The non-fulfillment of a supplication does not signify hypocrisy on the part of the supplicant or Allah's displeasure with him. It could be due to Allah's contentment with the servant, or to avert harm from him, or to save good for him in the Hereafter, or to forgive a sin. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified that a Muslim's supplication is answered in one of three ways: by expediting its fulfillment, or by saving it for the Hereafter, or by averting evil from him. The supplicant should have a good opinion of his Lord, not hasten the response, persist in supplication, and not despair, while ensuring his food and clothing are lawful. One must also believe in divine decree, both its good and its evil.
