What is the meaning of the Almighty's saying: (It is prescribed for you when death approaches one of you)?

The meaning of the verse, "When death approaches one of you," does not refer to the actual presence of death, because that is a time when repentance is not accepted. Rather, it means:

1. The imminence of death: This can be due to old age, a journey where there is fear of perishing, the expectation of a sudden event, or the soul's realization that death is inevitably coming.

2. Illness: Because illness is a cause of death, and Arabs sometimes use the cause to refer to the effect, as the poet said: "And tell them to hasten with an excuse and seek a word that absolves you, for I am Death."
