Is it permissible to learn the Seven Readings (Qira'at Sab'a) from a book without a teacher?

It is permissible to learn the various modes of recitation (qira'at) from specialized and accredited books, such as "Al-Taysir" and "Al-Nashr," and their systems and commentaries. However, to master the pronunciation of these modes, it is essential to learn directly from skilled reciters (qurra'). This is because it is difficult to grasp the nuances of Ishmam (lip-pointing), Imalah (vowel-slanting), and the precise duration of madd (vowel prolongation) and ghunnah (nasalization), and similar elements, solely from books without recourse to qualified teachers.
