Is it permissible to memorize and review the Qur’an without a teacher, given good knowledge of the rules of the Arabic language and the rulings of Tajweed, and listening to reciters, and does this memorization deprive one of reward, or is it necessary to obtain an isnad (chain of transmission)?

Receiving the Quran directly from a skilled teacher is the original and most accurate method. However, there is no impediment to learning by listening to recorded recitations if the person possesses the ability to do so and has knowledge of the rules of Tajweed, and they will be rewarded for it. Obtaining an isnad (chain of transmission) for recitation is not a prerequisite for earning reward; rather, sincerity to Allah Almighty in learning and reciting is what matters.
