What is the ruling on my praying Dhuhr and Asr consecutively with a difference of a few minutes, and likewise Maghrib and Isha, in a non-Islamic country where work does not allow for prolongation of prayer?
Prayer is the pillar of faith and the second of the five pillars of Islam. It is the first thing a servant will be judged upon on the Day of Resurrection. A Muslim should not use work as an excuse to abandon it or delay it beyond its prescribed time. Prayer does not take a long time, and it is not a condition that it be performed in the mosque or at home if there is an excuse. A Muslim can pray in any clean place. If a congregation is found, he should pray with them; otherwise, he prays alone. It is not permissible to offer the prayer before its time; whoever does so, their prayer is not valid, and they must make it up. It is not permissible to delay it beyond its time except in cases of combining prayers, such as travel, rain, illness, and fear. Prayer has pillars without which it is not valid, such as "tranquility and uprightness." It is permissible to perform a pictorial combination of prayers, such as praying Dhuhr at the very end of its time and then Asr at the very beginning of its time, and Maghrib at the very end of its time and then Isha at the very beginning of its time. However, it is preferable to pray each prayer at the beginning of its prescribed time.
