What is the amount of zakat on gold designated for adornment and savings, and is it permissible for the husband to pay it from his own money instead of his wife's, knowing that a portion of it has been sold and the wife wishes to pay its zakat?

Zakat (definition) is obligatory on jewelry intended for storage if it reaches the nisab (definition) and a full year passes over it. As for jewelry intended for personal use, there is no zakat on it according to the majority of scholars. However, some scholars obligate zakat on it unconditionally, and this is more cautious. The amount of zakat is a quarter of a tenth (2.5%), and it is permissible to pay its value. There is no zakat on what was sold before the year passed. It is permissible for a husband to donate zakat to his wife on condition of her intention. Zakat from past years must be made up, along with repentance.
