A woman who acknowledges the permissibility of polygyny is not impugned in her Islam if she refuses to marry a married man, or if her husband marries another. However, a woman who fundamentally opposes polygyny or views it as an injustice to women has been overcome by her misery. A woman's jealousy is instinctive and she is not blamed for it, as long as it does not lead to disobedience. However, accommodating this instinctive nature should not come at the expense of the overall societal welfare. The permissibility of polygyny is based on permissibility, not on recommendation or obligation, except in specific cases.
