Is my disobedience to my family and siblings—especially my mother—for not emigrating to America to obtain its citizenship, given my belief that naturalization with the citizenship of an infidel state involves suspicions, and my determination to seek a better future in a Muslim country, considered disobedience or a sin?

We have previously clarified the ruling on acquiring the nationality of a disbelieving country. Your family should be advised to emigrate from the lands of disbelief to the lands of the Muslims if possible, as emigration from there is either obligatory or recommended. Do not obey them in leaving Muslim lands and traveling to lands of disbelief, for there is danger to your religion in that. Continue to reside in the lands of Islam; by doing so, you are not being disobedient. Rather, the disobedience might lie in your complying with their request.
