Do not abandon your upright friend who is not seeking knowledge. We advise you to persistently counsel him and encourage him to seek knowledge, while minimizing your association with him if he has a negative impact on your own pursuit of knowledge. This is because scholars recommend that a student of knowledge associate with those who have high aspirations. You can also teach him from what you learn, for that will solidify the knowledge in your heart and earn you the reward of teaching people good.
