How can a new convert to Islam get married, and is his marriage restricted to female converts to Islam only? Are there any discriminations based on cultures in Islam?
Firstly, after embracing Islam, you must strive to marry a righteous and upright woman who will help you obey your Lord, acting upon the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "So choose the one who is religious, and you will prosper." If a woman or her family do not agree, you must be patient and continue searching and supplicating.
Secondly, Islam does not differentiate between people based on any earthly measure such as color, lineage, or wealth. Rather, the sole measure is piety, as confirmed by Allah Almighty's saying: (Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you), and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a non-Arab over an Arab; nor for a white person over a black person, nor for a black person over a white person, except by piety." The Sharia has commanded marrying those whose religion and character you approve of, and warned against rejecting them.
