What is the difference between sinning and being alone with Allah's prohibitions, knowing that sinning may also occur in secret?

Disobeying God is going against His law by neglecting His commands or committing His prohibitions. This can be done in private or in public. Publicly declaring one's sin means telling people about it after Allah has concealed it. This is a sin added to the original sin, for the entire nation (ummah) is pardoned except those who publicize their sins. The one who publicizes his sin commits two forbidden acts: displaying the sin, and engaging in the behavior of the wicked. He also forfeits Allah's concealment in this world and the Hereafter. As for the severe warning against those who violate Allah's prohibitions in private, it applies to those who appear righteous before people but transgress against the Sacred Law when alone.
