Is it permissible to use newspapers as a dining mat, and what should be done with them after reading if that is not permissible?

It is not permissible to use newspapers as a dining mat, or as a wrap for belongings, or to degrade them in any way if they contain Quranic verses or mention of Allah. Rather, they must be preserved in a suitable place, or burned, or buried in pure earth. However, if the newspapers are in a non-Arabic language and do not contain any mention of Allah, then there is no harm in using them.
