Is feeling self-admiration or arrogance when reading about other women, and preferring oneself over them, considered hypocrisy, and is obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) related to that?

What the questioner feels by way of self-admiration (ʿujb) and the consequent abandonment of teaching, memorization, and distance from the Quran, is from the whispers of Satan, which aim to distance her from good. The cause of these whispers is dwelling on them. The cure for whispers is to turn away from them and pay them no heed.

If the self-admiration is genuine, one should not abandon the Quranic circles; rather, the self-admiration must be treated while continuing to do good. To treat self-admiration, Ibn Hazm said: - Whoever is afflicted with self-admiration should reflect on their faults, and if they are impressed by their virtues, they should search for the vile traits within themselves. - If their faults are entirely hidden from them, let them know that their misfortune is eternal, and that they are the most imperfect of people, the greatest in faults, the weakest in discernment, and the first of that is being weak-minded and ignorant. - No human is free from imperfection, except for the Prophets. So whoever's own faults are hidden from them has fallen. - If you are impressed by your deeds, then reflect on your sins, your shortcomings, and your livelihood, and you will find what outweighs your good deeds. So replace self-admiration with disparaging yourself. - If you are impressed by your knowledge, know that it is a gift from Allah, so do not respond to it with what displeases Him, for He might cause you to forget it due to some ailment.

He also said: - Whoever is pleased with their bravery in an inappropriate context, let them know that the tiger, lion, wolf, and elephant are bolder and braver than them. - Whoever is pleased with their physical strength, let them know that the mule, bull, and elephant are physically stronger than them. - Whoever is pleased with carrying heavy loads, let them know that the donkey carries more than them. - Whoever is pleased with their speed in running, let them know that the dog and rabbit run faster than them. - Whoever is pleased with the beauty of their voice, let them know that many birds have a more beautiful voice than them.

So there is no pride in what animals are superior to humans in.
