Is it permissible to electrocute animals for dissection and practical training purposes in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine?

There is no objection to dissecting animals for educational purposes and practical training. As for stunning animals with electricity, it is not permissible if an alternative is possible, for two reasons: The first is that it may involve torturing the animal, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded excellence in killing and slaughtering. The second is that killing by stunning makes the animal carrion, and the majority of scholars consider it unlawful to benefit from carrion due to the generality of His (Allah's) saying: "Forbidden to you is carrion." However, if experiments cannot be conducted except by stunning, then there is no harm in that.
