Will Allah reward a person for their good deeds in this world and the Hereafter combined?

2 min readAlso available in العربية

Allah promises the believer who performs righteous deeds a reward in this world and the hereafter, as stated in His exalted verse: (Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do). And some of the rewards for righteous deeds in this world include:

1. Spending (in charity): It increases and expands sustenance, as Allah the Almighty says: (And whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers). 2. Facilitating for the one in hardship, covering a Muslim's faults, and assisting him: Allah relieves distress from its doer in this world and the hereafter, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever relieves a believer of a distress from the distresses of this world, Allah will relieve him of a distress from the distresses of the Day of Resurrection. And whoever eases a difficulty for one in hardship, Allah will ease his difficulty in this world and the Hereafter. And whoever covers a Muslim's fault, Allah will cover his fault in this world and the Hereafter. Allah is in the aid of His servant as long as the servant is in the aid of his brother." 3. Humility before Allah: Allah raises the status of its doer in this world and the hereafter, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises him." 4. Maintaining ties of kinship: It increases sustenance and lengthens life, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wishes that his provision be expanded for him and his life be extended, let him maintain ties of kinship."
