Is it permissible for a father to revoke his guardianship over his daughter who uncovered her face and hands after having worn the niqab, on the grounds of her disobedience to him and her failure to apply Islamic law?

The obligation for a woman to cover her face is a matter of dispute among scholars. Our preponderant view is that it is obligatory. It is not permissible for someone who follows a particular madhhab (school of thought) to declare someone else, who follows a different madhhab, a fasiq (transgressor) or to disparage them. One should try to convince the girl of the obligation to cover her face, and she is not permitted to disobey her father in this regard. As for revoking the father's guardianship over the money of his adult, sane, and mature daughter, that is not valid, nor is revoking the agreed-upon guardianship over marriage. It is also not permissible to cease providing for her.
