What is the way to get rid of backbiting and impatience, despite listening to religious lessons and memorizing the Qur'an?
We advise accustoming oneself to silence, except when speaking good, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent." Remember that the harvest of tongues is among the greatest causes of falling into Hellfire, and that backbiting is one of the most dangerous prohibitions of the tongue and a major sin. It has been authentically narrated in a that it is many times more dangerous than fornication. To remedy this, one should occupy their time and mind, diverting them from thinking about people and speaking about them, with a beneficial program for this world and the Hereafter, such as memorizing the Quran and Hadith, learning Fiqh, and reading books of encouragement and deterrence, biographies, and beneficial stories.
