The answer

The default is the permissibility of medical treatment, including surgery. Allah has praised efforts to save lives. And due to the Prophet's saying, peace be upon him: "Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has sent down a cure for it," and due to his saying, peace be upon him: "For every disease there is a cure. If the cure for the disease is found, it will be cured by the permission of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic." Scholars have stipulated eight conditions for the permissibility of surgery: that it be permissible and not lead to altering Allah's creation, that the patient needs it, that the patient gives permission for it, that the physician and his assistants are qualified, that the physician predominantly believes in its success, that there is no less harmful alternative, that it results in a benefit, and that it does not cause greater harm than the harm of the illness.
